I can hardly type fast enough to share the outstanding news Karen and I received today! To quote from one of my favorite hymn's: "To God be the glory, great things He hath done!"

Karen went to the oncologist (Dr. Galleshaw) today, 21July, to get her third dose of Herceptin and discuss restarting chemotherapy. She has been feeling better every day this week and today was no exception. Dr. Galleshaw was pleased to see how much better Karen looked and felt. In light of this, she measured the tumor in Karen's breast and the size of her liver. The tumor in her breast measured at 12 cm long by 10 cm wide on her first visit to Dr. Galleshaw on 03June. Today, just 7 weeks later it has shrunk to 4 cm long by 4 cm wide!!! Her improvement over the past week was noted as "remarkable" by the doctor.

There's more! Her liver has also continued to reduce in size! The right lobe of the liver is back under her ribs which is where it is intended to be and can no longer be found protruding into her lower abdomen. The center portion moving to the left lobe of her liver remains distended however it is measuring between 3 to 4 centimeters smaller than on the initial visit! Best of all, according to her most recent blood test, her liver function is improving! This is a huge turn in Karen's health.

Other details of her visit include an uneventful infusion of Herceptin (yeah!), her staying off the Xeloda (Chemo) until her mouth heals and reduction to the dose that will be taken from 3000 mg a day to 2300.

It's our prayer that God will continue to astound medical professionals with Karen's progress and completely heal her of cancer. A complete healing of the type and stage cancer she has would be a miracle. We know God is able to bring about just such a miracle.
