Thursday, 16 February. What a week! Karen traveled to Chicago with Hannah to spend the day at the American Girl store. They both had a wonderful time together. This was a trip we promised her before we knew Karen was sick. After we learned of the cancer, Hannah never asked once about going on the trip, clearly understanding the gravity of the situation. Our children are all so young, but they have behaved well beyond their years on many occasions over the last 10 months. I stayed with the rest of the gang and got a small reminder of how easy my job is when compared to caring for small children and keeping a home running smoothly. Praise God for Karen’s health and the generosity of others that made the trip possible.

The doctor visit (16Feb06), infusion number 13 of Herceptin and a series of blood test went well. We should know the result of the tumor marker test in a few days. Please continue with us in prayer that these markers have started to drop.

Due to the Zoladex (shot given to place Karen in menopause), her cycle is changing. I’ll save you the details but she was borderline anemic on her last visit. If the red blood count levels continue to drop she will be faced with more unwanted options. Karen would like for her body changes to occur as naturally as possible rather than through medication.
