We've had a very emotional few days since coming home from the hospital. We've been reviewing the many options for treatment of Cancer. We're still in the process of this review. I'd like to share a few items with everyone.

First, we've never felt so loved. Thank you seems such a small and insignificant way of showing our deep appreciation. To our family, friends and my extended family at Delta we send our love and deepest thanks.

Next, I'd like to answer some questions that I've been getting about Karen's cancer. She has Breast Cancer. She also has cancer in her liver. Wherever the cancer originated is what it gets named because that's where the rouge cells started. As stated in the last posting her cancer is Stage 4. Generally there are 4 stages to cancer with stage four being the worst. People have survived this stage of cancer but in most cases only for a short period of time. The survival rate for Stage 1 Breast Cancer is about 85% but drops to about 10 - 15% with Stage 4. A 10-15% survival rate are man's odds for Karen. We believe God will not call her home until he deems her time here is finished, REGARDLESS of what the odds are against her medically. The cancer in her liver is shutting down this very important organ. Without a miraculous cure from God, medicine is the next course of action.

We have been in touch with Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Tulsa, OK and several local Oncologists. Karen is most interested in CTCA because they seem to be more cutting edge with natural therapies, medical treatments and nutrition. They have a multi-pronged approach to cancer treatment versus traditional take the chemo and hope for the best mentality. Today (31MAY05) we received good and bad news from CTCA as they told us our insurance has been accepted but will only cover a small portion of the projected cost of treatment. We are trying to get additional details from CTCA and our insurance company but for now we know they want a $15,000 deposit and credit check to insure we can make up the difference between what the insurance pays and the cost of treatment. While we're waiting for more details from CTCA we've made appointments to see Oncologist on the 01June and 03June.
