12 April 2007
We’ve not posted in a while because our basement which includes the computer where we usually write the updates has been upside down. The past several weeks have been filled with contractors, dust, dirt, boxes, carpet and finally a moving truck. It is hard to believe it has been nearly 2 months since the basement flooded, though the children would tell you it’s been “years” since they have seen most of their toys. Not unexpectedly they were extremely excited to have the "grand re-opening” of the basement. Thank God for insurance and that as of this posting this experience is nearly behind us.
We have wonderful news to share about Karen’s last doctor visit which was on 12 April. The visit began with Karen receiving the 32nd Herceptin infusion and an encouraging visit with the oncologist. The mass in the breast has grown in size, but much to our surprise the ultrasound revealed the actual cancer was smaller than in previous test. The doctor's believe the swelling is most likely due to scar tissue. It’s not uncommon for destroyed cancer cells to leave scar tissue.
The tumor marker further supported the assumption the chemotherapy is having an impact on the cancer as it dropped from 224 to 199. We asked for prayer specifically for this cancer indicator in the last update as it had started to increase. We praise God for the tumor marker drop and reduction in size of the cancer!
We are one month and a couple of days away from the two year anniversary of Karen’s diagnosis. TWO YEARS!!! When she was diagnosed we were told we may have just a matter of months due to the extent of the cancer. God, not man is in control! We are planning another Celebration of Life and will have more details soon.
Thank you for your prayers and for checking up on Karen. Until next time….

It is an honor and privaledge for your Delta family to be walking all night in your "honor." God Bless you and continue to heal you...
