Karen’s feet are healing more and hurting less each day. Her energy is returning and she spent several hours over the past few days doing one of her favorite things which is baking. We have all benefited from that pastime!
She restarted Xeloda (chemotherapy) on Thursday, 22 February. The dosage was reduced to 1600 milligrams daily in hopes the pain in her hands and feet will not return. The break from chemo she took was needed. She is definitely feeling better. It’s a two edged sword though as coming off the chemotherapy increases the likelihood the cancerous cells rebounded as well. We are praying against the odds and more importantly endeavoring to enjoy this time where she is feeling more like herself.
This disease has been a great teacher of how precious right now is and that life can change so quickly. There are a couple of sayings that have probably lost meaning because of overuse but they help bring me back to center when I’m uncertain as to how to approach my day or disappointed in how spent my time.
The past is history, the future is a mystery and the present is a gift!
-and-
Learning from the past, living for today, planning for the future.
Thank you for checking in on Karen and for praying for her.
Until next time…
