Tuesday, 09 May. Please forgive the lateness of this update. Karen and I traveled to London, England (04May – 08May) this past week. The children stayed home with Karen’s aunt. This trip was one we were saving until much later in life but all we’re promised is this moment so we took it. Despite the trip being two days shorter than planned due to schedule conflicts and Karen’s health we had a wonderful time. Karen and I haven’t traveled just the two of us since our first child was born so this was a first on many fronts.

We cut our trip short by a day because Karen wasn’t feeling well. She came down with what we think is a bladder infection and began to run a low grade fever. Her lower back was beginning to ache so after some discussion and even more prayer we felt it best to come home immediately. It proved to be a wise decision because shortly after we arrived home the fever and pain began to rise. She started an antibiotic and after sleeping or resting for most of past 24 hours is feeling some better.

In addition to the trip there were other significant events this past week. On Friday, 05 May members of my Delta family honored Karen and others by participating in The American Cancer Society of Fayette County’s Relay for Life. They spent weeks prior to the event raising money which will be used to fund research and development towards patient treatment and finding a cure for cancer. Their relentless drive to raise awareness and funds necessary for research were an encouragement. As most of you know, Delta is going through the most difficult times in its history which have directly and deeply impacted most employees. Despite these challenges my co-workers looked past their own situations and sought to help others. It’s humbling. I have had lots of help on this journey thus far and the people of Delta have been a huge part of that help.

On a less encouraging note please remember the family of Lisa Porter. A friend of a friend, we do not know her family personally, she was diagnosed 5 months before Karen with the same type and stage of cancer. Karen is scheduled to see Dr. Galleshaw (oncologist) and Dr. Levert (gastroenterologist) on 11May. Please pray for wisdom and peace. Also for healing that would leave the doctors with no other response but “Miraculous”. We’re asking God for healing here on earth so that Karen can be a testimony for Him and shape the lives of our children.

I would be remiss if I didn’t proclaim the healing that Lisa Porter received on 29APR as miraculous. You see as far as I know she was a Christian. When her body died her spirit didn’t. She is completely healed. Praise the Lord!
