Whoops! I thought this update was posted. A little late but here are the details from Karen’s last doctor visit.

Karen saw the physician assistant Melissa on Thursday, 3 May. The appointment went smoothly. She received the 33rd infusion of Herceptin and the rest of treatment remains unchanged at this time. She takes oral chemotherapy (Xeloda) twice daily every other week.

On Tuesday, 08 May we received the tumor marker and liver function test results. The tumor marker jumped up from 199 to 234. The liver function has moved out of normal limits. Karen is attributing the changes in the liver function to the antibiotics she was taking just prior the test. The doctor has asked for and Karen has agreed to a PET scan to determine the extent of the cancer. The scan is scheduled for Friday, 18 May. Please pray that the scan will reveal the cancer is stable or better is regressing, pray for Karen as she takes the test as the preparation nauseates her and the claustrophobic testing area isn’t a picnic either.

We are starting to receive RSVP’s for the “Celebration of Life” get-together on Wednesday, 30 May. We hope to hear from you soon. It will be in Newnan, GA from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. If you think you may be able to attend or for more details, please email us at ruheavenbound@numail.org

Thank you for checking up on Karen and praying for her. I will be timelier with next update. Until then…
