Karen saw Dr. Galleshaw and the main topic of discussion was the rash discussed in last weeks update. In light of Karen’s good health other than the annoying rash the doctor asked Karen to restart the Tamoxifen to make sure it was this drug that was causing the rash. As you can imagine it was with some reluctance that Karen began taking the drug again but she is delighted to be feeling as well as she does and hopes she will not have another reaction.
She had infusion number 18 of Herceptin which went smoothly as did all other testing. The tumor maker test was taken and we should have the results some time next week.

From there we went over to Northside Hospital to have an echocardiogram test to check on her heart function. We’ll learn the results of this test on Karen’s next visit.

The swelling caused from stopping the diuretics is largely dissipated since she restarted one of the diuretics (Aldactone).

Please continue praying for complete healing for Karen, that her days here on earth will be many.

Cancer itself and the treatment of it are difficult to watch and it’s a roller coaster physically and emotionally. We’ve watched Karen’s health turn on a dime. One day so weak she can barely lift her head off the pillow and a day or two later looking like the picture of health and vice versa. We are learning to live this life the way God gives it to each of us, one day at a time. We are also learning to look for the blessing each day brings and strange as it may sound, we find even the hardest days are filled with blessings. Yes cancer has changed our lives but not all the changes have been for the worst.
