Karen had no doctor appointments today, 08 December. It was great to be able to sleep in, especially since it is cold and wet here.
She really enjoyed her 1st week free from chemotherapy. She experienced nausea only once this week and her hair loss has slowed dramatically. Fortunately for Karen she had really thick hair with lots of body and curl when she began chemo. So even though she has lost about two-thirds the thickness of her hair, she still looks like she has plenty. In comparison to others on chemo who have lost all their hair she does have plenty.
Her nails, which had split and cracked severely, are showing improvement albeit limited. Her energy levels have continued to improve. Most importantly her outlook has improved as she has much less medication to take on a daily basis. The medication she does take has limited, more tolerable, side affects.
Looking forward Karen is scheduled for an infusion of Herceptin next Thursday, 15 December.

I have been reading Spurgeon's Treasury of David. The 71st psalm to be exact.Verse 14 to be most exact. Quote: When I cannot rejoice in what I have, I will look forward to what shall be mine, and will still rejoice. Hope will live on a bare common, and sing on a branch laden with snow. No date and no place are unsuitable for hope. ...We may always hope , for we always have grounds for it; we will always hope for it is our never-failing consolation.
For our hope is not the glory of heaven, not joy, not peace, not rest from labour, not fulness of our wishes, nor sweet contentment of the whole soul,....it is " Christ our God", " the hope of glory".....What we hope for is our Redeeming God himself, his love, his bliss, the joy of our Lord HImself who has so loved us, to be our joy and our portion forever. by E.B.
