We have enjoyed two weeks free of doctors! Karen's is eight days into round 4 of chemo (Xeloda). She is having some issues with her feet and lips but overall she has been feeling good. If you haven’t seen her lately, you would have no idea from looking at her that she has stage 4 cancer!

Recently, Karen attended the last few minutes of a charity golf event raising funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. One of the foursomes was my co-workers playing in honor of Karen. After seeing her, one of them pulled me aside some days later at work and jokingly asked me, “what kind of scam were we pulling? Your wife appears to be a picture of health”. He was very surprised to see how Karen looked. While appearances can be fooling, Karen’s improvement over the past six weeks can only be described as miraculous.

More answered prayer. Karen has been taking half the original dose of diuretics (water pills) for the past two weeks. The first time she stopped taking them she experienced extremely painful swelling due to poor liver function. So far, Karen hasn’t had any of those problems this time! Please pray that she will be able to eliminate the diuretics from her medication regimen in the very near future.

Last but certainly not least, Karen and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary this past Sunday (11SEP). This year we celebrated as we have virtually every other year; dinner out with our children. I’m praying for 38 more celebrations just like that.
