As you can tell it's been nearly three weeks since my last update. I've got a whole host of excuses, but I won't bore you with them. Instead I'll make a commitment, barring unforeseen circumstances, to send an update for posting every Thursday until Karen is pronounced NED (no evidence of disease). We know God is going to heal her and trust Him with details of how and when. I'm choosing Thursday because Karen's doctor appointments normally fall on that day. Now on with the update.

Karen is feeling the best she has felt since late Winter of this year. She has been able to do some cross stitching. This is something she hasn't been able to do in a long time and is a true enjoyment of hers. She still battles with fatigue and nausea from the chemo but has worked herself into a daily routine which allows her to head off much of the issues caused by these common ailments.

Her last doctor appointment (11 AUG) went so well they let her have 3 weeks between visits. This is one of my excuses for lack of update to this blogsite. It's been like a vacation with no trips to the doctor! She is scheduled to see two doctors on 01September. The gastroenterologist for a follow up on her esophagus and overall digestive track and the oncologist for follow up and infusions of Herceptin and Aranesp.

She is on round 3 of the chemotherapy drug Xeloda. She hasn't had anymore of the issues (hand/foot) she had with the first round. She finishes round three on Wednesday, 31 August. Karen is looking forward to a week off (Thursday 01 Sept. through Wednesday 07 Sept.) from the Xeloda.
